Details

Named after the iron-tipped spear used by the Zulu people of South Africa, the Maxxis Assegai is the signature tyre of the greatest downhill rider of all time, Greg Minnaar. With an aggressive tread designed to excel in all conditions, the Assegai is built to go fast everywhere.

  • Tall, closely spaced tread digs through dust and loam and provides excellent control on wet roots & rocks
  • Wide Trail casing optimised for 30-35mm wide rims
  • Tubeless ready folding bead makings tubeless setup easy

While other tyres perform in relatively narrow range of conditions, the Assegai grips tenaciously just about anywhere. Dry or wet, soft or hard pack, the Assegai is a true grip monster yet still rolls well thanks to it's closely spaced and ramped tread. Tall should tread provides corner ripping grip in all conditions and the Assegai is incredibly under braking too, providing all the traction you'll ever need. If you want maximum grip for your bike in a tough, durable tyre, the Maxxis Assegai is one of the best choices around.

Good grip at speed down corners and strong construction. Must ensure it’s the DH and not EXO casing otherwise far to thin and liable to puncture.
Very robust tyres, tricky to install. Haven't used them yet but I'm sure they'll be great.
Best tyres on the market ! For any serious mntbiker
Awesome product
Awesome product
I have just fitted the tyres, I didn't get a chance to try them still, so stars are for difficulty setting them up.

So I set mine as tubeless, and they have sat on the rim no issue what so ever. I'm not sure if its due to folding bead or the way tyre is made, or I'm getting better at it, but my previous Michelin DH22 and DH34 were more difficult to mount for sure.
Best all rounder
I'm pressed with these tyres. I have a 3C on the front and dual compound at rear. I may go for the dual at both ends pending the wear endured. If you want grip in both dry, loose and wet, then these are good. They will especially appeal to DHF users that want a bit more grip.
DH version does what it should and has good overall grip.
My new fav front tire. A fit and forget UK Tyre.
