The new Shimano Tiagra 4700 STI levers have seen the biggest changes out of all items in the Tiagra range.
These new levers get the look and feel of the higher end 11-speed levers, while sticking with 10-speed internals. As well as the re-designed hood shape the shifters also feature neat under-tape cable routing instead of exiting from the side of lever like previous models.
Like the more expensive groups the Tiagra levers provide a shorter shift stroke that delivers what Shimano calls ''lightest and easiest front shifting Shimano has ever made''. The lever is fully adjustable to accommodate different hand sizes via a 10mm screw-type reach adjustment.
Braking isn't ignored of course, and the power and feel of the braking has been improved, especially when riding on the hoods. In conjunction with a new cable set, the whole setup is smooth and reliable.
