The Thule 972 HangOn cycle carrier is built to handle the weight of up to 3 bikes (45kg maximum), with the durable coupling featuring a simple 1 bolt tightening operation, enabling adjustment free mounting on ISO approved towbars.
A tilting function allows for easy boot access without the need to remove the bikes or carrier itself, and the folding design enables easy storage when not in use. Supplied with universal bike mounts (suitable for all frame sizes) and a securing strap to keep everything in place.
Designed for flat crossbars, bikes with non standard frames (WSD, full suspension and BMX) may require an adapter (981) to allow for correct fitment, towbar locks (957) and cycle locks (538) are also available for increased security.
Fitting:
- Requires towball.
- Suitable for 3 bikes (maximum weight per bike = 15kg).
- Ensure bikes do not obscure lights and/or numberplate, if this is the case use of a lighting board and additional numberplate are required by law.

We have 3 mountain bikes - 2 older style with narrower bars, but 1 with modern wider bars and the arms of this carrier are a bit short to fit it on comfortably. I would advise getting the 4 bike carrier if you have bikes with wider bars.
It would also be good if the rubber securing straps were slightly longer (more holes) as they are a tight fit for wide-tube frames.
But very happy with how quick and easy it is to fit to the towbar, and load the bikes, which are very secure in the rubber straps.
Easy to follow instructions, had 2 bikes on, and seems sturdy. It has an element to pull it out of the way so you can use a car boot still which is cool, but I have a van with barn doors so if i want to use the doors i need to remove the whole lot
