3T |
3T was founded by Mario Dedioniggi in Turin in 1961 although it was originally called Tecnologia del Tubo Torinese (Turin Tube Technology).
After being taken on by the Ambrosio concern he learned to fashion bars and stems that were desired by racing cyclists. After almost 10 years at Ambrosio, Dedioniggi seen that the demand for high quality racing equipment and decided to set up shop on his own.
Dedioniggi's new business had a three-room warehouse in Turin, one employee, and a manual tube-bending machine. Soon, the grandiose name gave way to the easier 3TTT. The company soon decided to switch production to aluminium alloys to make the components lighter and as a result attracted an elite clientele among Italian cycle racers.
Throughout the 70's 3T crafted ski poles which became top sellers all over Europe. The product that really made 3T famous was their handlebars. In 1975 the world's first Ergal bar, the 250g Superleggera appeared and in 1984 the first time-trial bar in the now-ubiquitous 'bullhorn' shape was developed.
At the height of his fame, Dedioniggi quit and sold the company, but his successors took 3T from strength to strength, continuing to produce elegant bars, stems and seat pillars, beautifully crafted from the lightest alloys.
3T became renowned for simply offering its customers more - a five-year owner's warranty was an industry first. This is the tradition that informs 3T today, grown from its artisanal local roots into a hi-tech, global enterprise.
