Despite being In existance as a clothing manufacturer since 1876, it wasn't until in the late 1940's that Castelli shot to fame with Fausto Coppi, Il Campionissimo (the champion of champions): One of the all time great post war cyclists, a five time winner of the Giro and twice holder of the yellow jersey in the Tour de France.

Armando Castelli was his tailor, and together they created the first silk cycling jersey, a lighter material designed to help when climbing in the alps. The following years saw Castelli create cycling clothing for nearly all the top riders to give them the same edge he had given Coppi; developing  the skin suit, chamois, back pockets and zippered collars along the way.

Castelli Sport was founded in 1974 under the iconic scorpion logo to provide premium racing clothing to the next generation of riders, utilising space age (at the time) Lycra for the first time. Something that brought Merckx, Hinault and Moser through the door and gave rise to a new range of innovations derived from the demands of these legendary riders.

Today Castelli continue to build upon their heritage, supporting the champions of cycling by constantly reworking existing designs and materials to produce some of the finest clothing available.
