Bont carbon fiber is sourced exclusively from the world's #1 carbon manufacturer, Toray of Japan. The base of the Vaypor is made by hand utilizing uni-directional carbon fiber which is embedded with epoxy thermo setting resin. The fibers are hand laid in the matrix according to the strain they will have to bear. The Vaypor utilizes unidirectional carbon fiber allowing Bont to create a performance cycling shoe with very specific strength characteristics based on stress points in cycling. As unidirectional carbon absorbs less resin then cross weave fibers, it also assists in the weight reduction of the cycling shoes.
Conventional cycling shoes offer a “dress shoe” type shaping. Although highly aesthetic this will cause the toes along with the metatarsals to be overly constricted, compressing the nerves between the metatarsals which often results in the common "hot foot" sensation.
Bont cycling shoes anatomical shaping allows the foot to function in its most efficient and anatomically correct position. The foot is supported in its endeavour to relax through the metatarsal joints allowing the pedalling force to be spread across the greatest possible surface area.
The anatomical heel cup shaping of Bont cycling shoes provides increased stability during the pull through stage of pedaling stroke and up stroke. This stabilization is achieved without any mechanical operation or over tightening of straps/laces allowing for increased comfort and blood circulation.
Bont cycling shoes are the most heat mouldable shoes available on the market. Bont's proprietary resin has been developed and perfected over 36 years to be an extremely stiff resin that becomes pliable at relatively low temperatures. Unlike other shoes which are mouldable only in select locations, all Bont cycling shoes are able to be moulded over the entire chassis providing cyclists not only with the most anatomically designed cycling shoe on the market today, but also with the ability to fine tune the fit of the entire shoe to give a customised fit. Mr. Inze Bont first started making custom shoes in the backyard of his Sydney house in 1974 after struggling to find a boot that would fit his wide feet. Mr. Bont pioneered the field of custom footwear and has remained the #1 custom boot/shoe builder in the world since 1974. Each week, Bont makes up to 200 pairs of custom boots and shoes.
In the mid 1990’s Inze tried to use socks with resin impregnated in them as he had seen being used in the hospitals to take a cast of people’s broken bones. He used the sock to quickly and easily make impression molds of peoples feet. They were so easy to use, he could post them out and people could make their own molds and post them back to our factory. This is still the most popular method used today.
Bont is extremely successful as custom shoe building because we have a unique way of building the shoes, the most knowledge in the industry for plaster foot shaping, and a fast turn around time. Feet have a lot of flesh on them that need to be sanded off, but if any of the bony areas are sanded, it will cause a great amount of pain and blisters for the rider. This mold preparation is crucial for a tight fit because when you have such a hard material like carbon fiber only 3mm away from your feet, they need to fit perfectly.
To find your size, place a tape measure on a flat surface up against a wall. Stand on the tape
measure with your heal against the wall. Look down and take the measurement from your longest toe.
Then use the MM scale on the size chart to find your size.
The mm sizes on the size chart are the exact length of the last that we use to build the shoes.
If you find that your mm size is exactly the same as a value on the size chart, you may want
to select one size bigger to give your toes some room. Eg. You measure your foot and it is 268mm is
size which is a size 42.5. Unless you like your shoes very tight, you may wish to wear a size 43.

238mm + 4mm you should order size 6
257mm + 4mm you should order size 8
265mm + 4mm you should order size 9

Low profile, micro adjustable buckles have been fitted. Buckles and ladders are fully replaceable, with 3
lengths of ladders available to ensure proper fit.
