Look's Kéo Blade marks the beginning of a new era in clipless pedal technology, by substituting the traditional heavy wound metal spring with a lightweight carbon blade enables the mechanism to be simplified significantly, which when combined with a lightweight CroMo axle and injection moulded carbon composite body results in a pedal that weighs in at 115g.
The flexible carbon blade offers a more linear spring rate to make engagement and disengagement more positive, and is available with a release tension setting of either 12Nm or 16Nm to suit both casual and competitive riders (select from option, blades available separately).
With a platform body 17% wider than the Kéo Carbon, the Blade provides greater comfort and power transmission, yet retains a low Q-Factor of 53mm (with the option to increase this to 55mm using optional spacers) and excellent cornering clearance. The injection moulded carbon composite body uses 10mm long fibre strands (10x longer than previously) for increased strength and fracture resistance, with a ultra durable INOX stainless steel platform on the contact surface preventing wear.
The design maintains a low cleat contact height even with the use of an oversized axle, two miniature ball bearings (12mm inner x 18mm outer diameters) and a needle roller bearing provide smooth rotation, whilst dual seals ensuring durability and long service intervals. Tested way beyond current standards, Look axles are only approved once they have survived a million cycles at 100 revolutions per minute with a 90kg (198lbs) load at the centre of the pedal and an eccentric rotation (replicating a bump each revolution), simulating years worth of heavy use.
Float: 4.5° (0° and 9° optional with additional cleats)
