Q & A

It doesn't take a Genius to know that this is a true trail batterer. The Scott Genius 930 is based around a light weight 6061 customer butted alloy frame. Right in the middle of the frame there is a customer FOX Nude Shock with 3 travel settings and a Fox 32 Float Evolution fork leading the way with 150mm of travel to absorb the harsh terrain and impacts that the bike might take while on the trail.

Shimano has kitted out the 930 with a SLX/XT groupset to keep the bike rolling up and down the hills that used to scare you. The RD-M786 rear derailleur with Shadow + technology is optimized for trail riding with the addition of an innovative new friction clutch mechanism which actively prevents the derailleur cage moving forwards under tension, all but eliminating chain slap and helping to prevent chain suck and dropping, ideal for more aggressive trail riders. The tension can be removed with the used of an integrated lever which facilitates easy wheel removal and gear indexing.

All-new and completely groundbreaking, the Genius range from Scott has been given a complete rethink over the previous models.  The main change is that there are no more small wheels here; 26" wheels have disappeared from the Genius, now leaving 29" (in the 900 range) and 27.5"/650b (in the 700 range).  Choose between the better stability and roll-over of the 29" wheel with 130mm travel or the more agile and aggressive 27.5" wheel with 150mm travel.  Either one will serve you very well as an ideal trail bike, perfectly suited for marathons and stage races.  Both wheel sizes cleverly offer the same rider geometry for each respective frame size, so the same low standover can be achieved.
Full of technology, the Genius is an IMP all-in-one moulded frame for stiffness and low weight, includes a tapered headtube, oversize BB area, internal cable routing, direct post mount rear brake, new forged mono 'U' link and oversize pivots now shared with all the Scott full suspension range.
Interchangeable Dropout System - Super Light (IDS-SL) is a very neat feature that means you can run 142x12mm, 135x12mm or 135x10mm QR rear axles for stiffness and flexibility with wheels.
The chainb locker protects the frame from chain suck by stopping the chain falling off the inner ring (double or triple chainsets) and an optional adapter means you can run an ISCG chain device with a single or double chainset.
Unique to Scott in the trail bike sector, the Genius offers geometry adjustment in the linkage. Just flip around the shock mount and you can adjust the BB height by 6mm and the head angle by 0.4deg for steeper or slacker geometry.

FOX Nude Shock

Scott's patented Twinloc is still the only system on the market to control damping and air volume to offer 3 distinct ride settings.

The FOX Nude CTCD shock has 3 modes:

1. DESCEND: Full air volume, supple damping

2.TRACTION CONTROL: Reduced volume, travel and geometry change, increased damping

3. CLIMB: Reduced Volume with locked out damping
