Q & A

To top off the Equilibrium range needed something special, so to comply with the same thinking behind the rest of the steel Equilibriums, the Titanium edition is based around the same geometry to give a fast road bike capable of eating up the miles in comfort, but in 3Al/2,5V Seamless Double Butted Titanium to save weight and take even more road shocks away by shaping the seat and chainstays to flex a little.

The frame also has the benefit of being anti-oxidizing for long life and extra strong.  To allow for the flex, the chainstays and seatstays are flattened in the centre, while the chainstays are ovalised near the bottom bracket to allow for tyre clearance.  Other little touches gone into the frame include the XX44 headtube, which gives a stiffer connection between the frame and forks for more precise handling and a wide range of options for fitting headsets/forks, and the larger diameter top and down tubes to allow for stiffness in the front triangle of the frame and bigger weld areas.  The fork is a tapered steerer, carbon leg version to soak up road vibrations up front.

Elsewhere, the solid specification choice was decided upon to give year-round durability, Shimano's 105 being well proven in this respect and Tektro R317 brakes being long drop to allow fitment of full length mudguards.  The compact chainset and wider range cassette means you will be able to get up anything even in the demoralising depths of winter.  Wheel choice is traditional, with Shimano 105 hubs being reliable and serviceable and DT Swiss R-450 rims keeping the weight down.

A fitting bike to sit at the top of Genesis' road line, typifying the thought gone into making bikes for British riding and conditions.
