Scott Scale 650 26 Hardtail Mountain Bike - 2013 | £1349.00 |
There is always a standout bike in a manufacturer's range each year that looks to be the best value for what you get. For 2013, this is that bike. The Scale 650 really looks like it should be at a level much higher than it is. The same great Fox 32 Float CTD forks adorn the front as plenty of the higher end models, with Scott's Rideloc remote system for bar mounted control of the forks between lockout, platform mode and fully active. Shimano XT isn't really expected on a bike of this price with a frame of this quality, and combined with SLX, it all works a treat. Plenty of Syncros parts are also bolted to the Scale 650, and anyone who's been into MTB for a while will tell you that they've been making the right stuff for over 25 years. All this in a lightweight package that looks great. I'll have 2 please. This is the 26" wheel version of the Scale 950 29" wheel. Scott's Scale aluminium range uses the same celebrated geometry as the carbon race winning bikes, so they'll handle great, be stiff where power transfer is concerned and comfortable due to the narrow seat stays absorbing some of the trail vibration. Of course, one of the main aims for Scott is to keep the weight as low as possible, so their aluminium frames come out as one of the lightest around. Add to this their great hydroformed looks and you have a winner for every scenario. Image for illustration only. Image shows Scale 950 29" wheel version, but both bikes are visually the same apart from the wheel size.
