Designed by ex DH racer and motorcycle frame engineer Cesar Rojo, the Summum takes it's name from the Latin "Summum Bonum" meaning 'The Maximum' or 'Highest Good', an apt name for such a technologically advanced and innovative bike. The past few seasons have seen the Summum frame awarded with numerous podium positions and a World Cup DH win ridden by Fabien Barel and it's played a pivotal role in establishing both the Zero suspension platform and Stealth tubing upon which the rest of the Mondraker full suspension range is based. The standard version is supplied with a fixed factory recommended geometry, however the full adjustment kit is available separately allowing you to tailor the bike to your preferences or to suit any given course.
Adjustable Geometry
The kit offers the perfect geometry set up depending on the way you ride and the track you're riding; the geometry is adjustable from the most extreme pro DH use, to the most dialled freeride use. It consists of 3 CNC head tube angle cups offering adjustability from 0, /- 1, /- 2 and 4 different chainstay lengths from 400mm, 435mm, 445mm and 450mm complete with brake mount adjusters.
Mondraker Zero Platform
The exclusive Zero suspension system represents the most important technological innovation developed by Mondraker to date. Zero is a virtual pivot system, with the rear shock floating between two system links. compressing the shock simultaneously on both sides. Thanks to the pivot and shock’s optimum position the Zero suspension system offers clear advantages when compared to the other systems, providing exceptional sensitivity not possible with a mono-pivot design.
Zero offers total pedalling independence, no noticeable chain elongation, no brake jack and outstanding bump absorption to shrug off big obstacles and enable you to handle even the toughest terrain.
Stealth Side Alloy Structure
Mondraker Stealth frame design works to reduce impact stresses upon the edges and joins within the frame, significantly increasing its strength and ability to handle big hits. The process minimises torsional twisting, increasing rigidity for improved handling and acceleration, whilst allowing the suspension to work more effectively, giving greater levels of traction on rough surfaces.
Fully butted tubing and careful use of strengthening material ensure the Stealth system does not have a negative impact upon weight, providing the best compromise between strength and lightness, whilst the sculpted tube profiles, produced utilising advanced hydroforming techniques ensure a distinctive appearance, being instantly recognisable as a Mondraker frame.
About Mondraker
Founded in Alicante, Spain in 2001. Mondraker’s started producing bikes to support the increasing number of riders who were starting to push the limits of themselves and their equipment on rough local trails. Back then a range consisted of just 7 bikes, mostly designed to cater for the emerging Spanish freeride scene, but over the past decade Mondraker have built upon this humble beginning, expanding the range to cover all MTB disciplines and establishing themselves as one of the major European manufacturers.
Their goal has always been to provide the best technology and the highest quality at reasonable prices, to achieve this they blend innovative design and high quality components within the budget of all serious mountain bikers.
There are 2 USP's which permiate the entire Mondraker range, the first is their Stealth (side alloy structure) tubing which not only offers a high strength to weight ratio but along with their own Zero Suspension System delivers a distinctive look that's easily recognisable regardless of whether the bike is a world cup winning DH rig with 200mm of travel or a cross country flyer with a little over half that.
Developed for and tested within the World Cup DH scene with the input of professional riders; Cesar Rojo and Fabian Barel, both of these technologies hold testament to Mondraker’s commitment to technical performance, with the developments made here clearly influencing the production range.
